Reviews
Moving to Sandpoint, Idaho, as a 45-year-old climate researcher has been an interesting experience. The small-town charm of Sandpoint is undeniably appealing. Nestled by Lake Pend Oreille, the stunning natural beauty here is a daily delight. The sheer variety of outdoor activities, from hiking and skiing to boating, offers a refreshing break from work.
The climate is quite different from what I'm used to. Winters are cold, with plenty of snow, which has been both a challenge and a source of new data for my research. Summers are pleasantly warm, making it enjoyable to explore the area's natural attractions.
The community is close-knit and friendly, which has made the move smoother. However, as someone in a specialized field, I do find the local professional network somewhat limited. The nearest large city is Spokane, Washington, which is about an hour's drive and does provide some additional resources and networking opportunities.
Despite the slower pace, the quality of life in Sandpoint is high. There are good local amenities, though they are fewer compared to larger cities. Overall, it's a peaceful place to live and work, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor exploration and community involvement.
