Recently, I relocated to Holyoke, Colorado, and as a 63-year-old climate researcher, I was curious to see how this small city would fit into my life both personally and professionally. Holyoke is a quaint and quiet place which offers a stark contrast to my former bustling urban environment.
Firstly, I must commend the peacefulness of Holyoke. The tranquility here is almost palpable, providing a great setting for focused research and reflection. The clean air is undoubtedly a perk for anyone in my field, allowing me to indulge in long, contemplative walks without the distractions of noise and pollution.
The community is tight-knit, and people are generally friendly and willing to offer assistance. However, as an outsider, it can be a bit challenging to break into established social circles. Over time, I believe this is something that will improve as more interactions occur naturally.
