I’ve recently moved to Cortez, Colorado, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. At 67 years old, I was ready for a change of pace, and this charming city has provided exactly what I was looking for. Nestled in the heart of the Four Corners region, Cortez offers a delightful blend of small-town comfort and natural beauty.

As an auditor and accountant, I appreciated the methodical approach to finding a new home, and Cortez has exceeded my expectations. The community here is incredibly welcoming. People go out of their way to introduce themselves and offer help, which made settling in remarkably easy. It's the kind of place where you feel like part of a family almost immediately.

The natural surroundings are spectacular. The stunning views of the Rocky Mountains are a daily reminder of nature’s grandeur. I’ve taken up light hiking and bird-watching, activities I never thought I’d enjoy so much. The Mesa Verde National Park, just a short drive away, has become a favorite spot for weekend visits. The history and archaeological significance of the area are fascinating, and there’s always something new to learn and explore.

Cortez provides a variety of local shops, farmers' markets, and eateries that keep life here interesting. The local library is well-stocked and has become my go-to spot for some quiet reading or to catch up on work. For a small city, the cultural events and community gatherings are frequent and diverse. I’ve attended several local art shows and festivals, which have been delightful and enriching.

The slower pace of life here has been a perfect fit for me as I transition into retirement, yet the town is adequately equipped with essential services and conveniences. The healthcare facilities are competent and accessible, which was a significant consideration for me. Additionally, the cost of living in Cortez is quite reasonable, making it a practical choice for someone like me who is mindful of finances.

In summary, moving to Cortez has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. The combination of friendly people, stunning natural beauty, and a sense of tranquility has made my new life immensely satisfying. It’s a fantastic place to live, and I look forward to many more years in this wonderful community.
