I recently relocated to Benson, Arizona, and as a 43-year-old network engineer, I have some mixed feelings about the move. Overall, my experience has been neutral, with both positive aspects and some areas where the city could improve.

First off, Benson has a certain charm that you don’t find in larger cities. It’s quiet and peaceful, which provides a nice environment to unwind after a hectic day dealing with network issues. The community here is friendly, and people are generally welcoming. It’s a small town where everyone seems to know each other, which can feel comforting.

In terms of my work as a network engineer, the internet infrastructure in Benson was a bit of a concern initially. However, I was pleased to find that there are reliable service providers, and it's been reasonably easy to stay connected. It’s not quite the high-speed, ultra-reliable connectivity I was used to in bigger cities, but it’s manageable for remote work.

Benson has a few local amenities that are worth noting. There are grocery stores, a couple of decent restaurants, and some small shops that cover most day-to-day needs. But if you’re looking for a broader range of dining or large shopping centers, you’ll need to drive to nearby cities like Tucson. That reliance on driving could be a drawback for some, but I've personally found the commute to Tucson to be relatively straightforward and not too time-consuming.

One aspect of Benson that has been a pleasant surprise is the natural beauty and outdoor activities. The San Pedro Valley offers some lovely hiking trails and bird-watching opportunities. It’s been great for weekend excursions and a really nice way to get out and explore nature.

On the flip side, Benson does lack some of the cultural and entertainment amenities that you might find in a larger urban area. If you’re used to having theaters, museums, and a vibrant nightlife at your disposal, Benson might feel a little limited.

Healthcare services here are adequate but somewhat limited, so for any specialized medical needs, trips to Tucson are necessary. This hasn't been a major issue for me, but it’s something to keep in mind.

In summary, Benson, Arizona, offers a quiet, community-focused lifestyle with decent amenities for day-to-day living. As a network engineer, I’ve been able to adjust to the local internet services, and while the area lacks some of the conveniences of a larger city, it makes up for it with natural beauty and a friendly atmosphere. It’s been a neutral move for me overall – not without its challenges, but with some pleasant surprises as well.
