I recently moved to Midland, Texas, and thought it would be helpful to share a few impressions of my new place of residence. As a 22-year-old biotechnologist, I had many factors in mind when making this move, and there have been both positives and negatives.
First off, Midland has a unique charm. The city isn't overwhelmingly large, which I like. It’s easy to get around, and traffic isn’t much of an issue. For someone like me who’s starting their career, this calm pace is a relief compared to the hustle and bustle of bigger cities. However, it’s worth mentioning that Midland is heavily influenced by the oil industry. This might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I appreciate the strong community vibe amongst professionals here.
Housing is relatively affordable compared to bigger cities, which is a significant plus. I've been able to rent a spacious apartment without breaking the bank. My workplace is also conveniently close, cutting down on commuting time.
