I recently moved to Kentwood, Louisiana, and have been here for a few months now. At 64 years old, and having spent decades in the nursing profession, I was looking for a place that offered both a sense of community and a bit of tranquility. On those fronts, Kentwood delivers adequately.
This small town embodies the charm you'd expect from a rural part of Louisiana. People here tend to be friendly and welcoming, which has made the transition smoother. My neighbors were quick to introduce themselves and I already feel a part of the local fabric, even though I've only been here a short while.
Regarding amenities, Kentwood offers the basic necessities. There's a decent grocery store, a few local restaurants, and some nice spots for coffee. For more extensive shopping or specialized medical supplies, though, I find myself needing to drive a bit further to nearby towns. It's not terribly inconvenient, but it's something to keep in mind.
As an older nurse, I appreciate the slower pace of life here. The quieter environment has been a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of larger cities. There's a small local health facility where I’ve been volunteering part-time.
