I've recently moved to Pawtucket, Rhode Island, for my first job as a geology engineer. Pawtucket is a small city with a rich industrial history, and it definitely has its pros and cons.

On the positive side, the city has a certain charm that's hard to replicate. Walking through older neighborhoods, you can see beautiful, historic architecture alongside the Blackstone River. The Slater Mill Historic Site is fascinating and gives you a glimpse into the city's industrial past. There are also several parks and green spaces, which are great for weekend strolls and outdoor activities.

I was pleasantly surprised by the local food scene. There are a few excellent restaurants and coffee shops here, although it's not as varied as what you'd find in a larger city. The few places that do exist serve delicious food, like The Guild for craft beers and Murphy's Law Irish Pub for a laid-back evening out.

Pawtucket is quiet and has a slower pace of life. This can be either a pro or a con depending on what you're looking for. For me, coming from a bustling college town, it's been an adjustment. However, it's also an opportunity to focus on my career without too many distractions.
