At 66 and recently retired from a fulfilling career as a veterinarian, I was seeking a place where community and peace were priorities, and St. Francis seemed to fit the bill.
The city’s proximity to Lake Michigan is undoubtedly a highlight. The serene views and the gentle breezes provide a calming effect that is much appreciated after years spent in hectic work environments. The Lakefront Park is a particularly lovely spot where I enjoy taking leisurely strolls in the evenings.
However, adapting to the limited amenities available here compared to larger urban areas has been a bit challenging.
