Reviews
I recently made the move to Cudahy, Wisconsin, and having been here for a short while now, I wanted to share my initial impressions of this city. At the age of 69 and with a long career as an Equipment Installation and Maintenance Technician behind me, my perspective might be different from that of a younger resident or someone in a different profession, but I believe my experience could still provide valuable insight.
Cudahy is a small city with a quiet, almost quaint charm. There's a simplicity here that's quite refreshing. The pace of life feels manageable, which I've come to appreciate after years of working in more bustling environments. The local community is friendly but reserved, giving me space while also being warm enough to make me feel welcome.
One of the first things I noticed is how accessible the essential amenities are. Groceries, pharmacies, and basic services are all within a short drive, and the local businesses seem to have a personal touch that larger cities often lack. However, for anything more specialized, a trip to nearby Milwaukee is often required. This isn't necessarily a drawback, but it's something to consider for folks who prefer having everything at their fingertips.
The climate can be quite a change, especially if you're not used to Midwest winters. The cold season is definitely something to prepare for, though the natural beauty of the snow-covered landscape does have its own appeal. Summers are mild, and there are several parks and outdoor spaces where one can enjoy the warmer months.
From a professional standpoint, my career in equipment installation and maintenance is fairly niche, and opportunities in this field seem limited within Cudahy itself. Milwaukee offers more in the way of career prospects for technicians, and I imagine younger professionals might want to consider that if career growth is a priority.
Cudahy might not be the most exciting place I've lived, but it does have a certain charm and ease that I find comforting at this stage in my life. It's a good place for someone looking for a slower pace, and it's close enough to a larger city to not feel completely isolated. All in all, it's neither fully exceeded my expectations nor disappointed me, making it a fairly neutral experience thus far.
