I recently relocated to Tea, South Dakota, at the age of 61, after spending decades in a more bustling urban environment as a lawyer. This has required an adjustment in my usual high-energy approach to work. On the upside, it has given me more free time and less job-related stress, which I didn't realize I was craving.

The amenities in Tea are basic but sufficient. There are a few grocery stores, a handful of restaurants, and some general shopping options. For more extensive shopping or dining experiences, Sioux Falls is a short drive away and offers a greater variety. This proximity to a larger city balances out some of the limitations of living in a smaller town.

One of the more significant adjustments has been the climate. Winters here are long and harsh, something that has taken some getting used to. The cold can be biting, and the snow significant. However, the summers are quite pleasant, and there's a range of outdoor activities to enjoy, from hiking to fishing, which I’ve found surprisingly enjoyable.

Public transportation is practically non-existent, so owning a car is essential. This isn't a hardship for me; however, for someone who might prefer public transit options, it could be a drawback.

Housing is reasonably priced compared to bigger cities, making it easier to find comfortable living arrangements without breaking the bank. My new home is spacious and far more affordable than my previous residence, providing me with both comfort and a sense of financial ease.

Healthcare facilities are adequate and within a reasonable distance, though for more specialized medical needs, trips to Sioux Falls are necessary. This hasn't been much of an issue for me yet, but it's something to keep in mind.
