I recently moved to Willoughby Hills, Ohio, and as a 34-year-old geology engineer, I have found the experience to be a mix of pros and cons.
The city is beautifully green, with several parks and natural reserves that are a joy to explore. For someone in my profession, the nearby geological features provide ample opportunities for both professional study and personal enjoyment. I’ve enjoyed hiking through the North Chagrin Reservation, which offers breathtaking scenery and a peaceful escape from daily life.
However, moving here has come with its challenges. The local job market for geology engineers is relatively limited, requiring me to commute to nearby cities for work. While this isn’t a huge issue, it does add to my daily travel time.
The community here is friendly but tends to be more close-knit, which can make it somewhat isolating for newcomers. It’s taking time to build new relationships, but people are generally welcoming.
