Moving to Milan, Michigan has been one of the most delightful experiences of my life. At 52 and having spent most of my career as a marine biologist exploring various corners of the world, settling down in this tranquil city in the heart of Michigan felt like a welcomed breath of fresh air.
Milan may not be anywhere near the sea, but its charm lies in its simplicity and close-knit community feel. It's a small city that has managed to preserve its historic essence while offering all the modern amenities one could ask for. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly welcoming everyone is. It's as if you become part of a big extended family the moment you step foot here.
One of the joys of living in Milan is the natural beauty that surrounds the city. Platt Road Park and Wilson Park are my frequent haunts. These parks provide me a serene escape, where I can indulge in my love for nature, even if it's a bit different from marine ecosystems.
