I've recently relocated to Berne, Indiana, after spending most of my life in larger cities. As a 55-year-old store clerk, I wasn't sure what to expect from this small community, but overall, my experience so far has been a mixed bag.
First off, Berne is a quaint town with a distinctly charming atmosphere. The Swiss heritage is evident everywhere, from the architecture to the regular cultural events. It's got a tight-knit community feel, which can be both a blessing and a bit of a challenge. On one hand, people are friendly and welcoming, but on the other hand, it feels like everyone knows everyone else's business.
Housing options here are decent and more affordable compared to big cities. I managed to find a cozy place that suits my needs without breaking the bank. The pace of life is slower here, which I appreciate; it's a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle I'm used to. Plus, it's incredibly peaceful, and the surrounding nature is a nice bonus.
